Mission and Guidelines
What is the A.C.T. Street Team?
The A.C.T. Street Team is a group of art-focused Wichita teenagers who will meet regularly to participate in spreading the appreciation and encouraging exploration of art and art events in the Wichita community in conjunction with The Arts Council of Wichita. In addition, A.C.T. Street Team members act as ambassadors at art related events and participate in a collaborative A.C.T. Street Team art/performance show that highlights the varied talents and interests of team members.
Candidates should be motivated, self-directed, interested in working with other teens, and willing to take a leadership role in A.C.T. Street Team.
What is the A.C.T. Street Team mission?
The A.C.T. Street Teamʼs mission is to promote art cultural development by encouraging fellow teens and community members to attend and explore the various arts events that Wichita has to offer. This program will expose and educate A.C.T. Street Team members to Wichitaʼs rich cultural community by connecting them with local artistic events and facilitating a variety of exposures.
How is the A.C.T. Street Team organized?
The A.C.T. Street Team is broken into event teams as the year progresses based on availability and interest. A.C.T. Street Team members will have the opportunity to be “Event Coordinators” through the year. Event Coordinators will host planning meetings to educate fellow team members on the chosen event and organize efforts toward the final product.
When does the A.C.T. Street Team meet?
The A.C.T. Street Team meets on the first Monday of each month, from the August of selected year through the following July. Event Coordinators are expected to arrange additional meeting times.
What is the expected time commitment?
The A.C.T. Street Team expects members to attend all monthly meetings. If a member is unable to attend a meeting he/she should notify Debra Cole (mrscole@cox.net) prior to the meeting. A.C.T. Street Team members are also required to participate in events through the year on the team. Participation in the required amount of events secures a position in the culminating A.C.T. Street Team Art & Performance Showcase. It is also important that members actively participate in all email/social network/face-to-face marketing of select arts events.
