After four and one-half years of successful operations, Artists at Old Town, is developing a new, fresh look for 2010. This involves renovation of the back gallery and studios. The new look will center on the development of a central entry gallery. The gallery has been improved and expanded to provide increased exhibition space for more featured artists and studio artists. We are confident about the future of the economy and the art market in Wichita. Final Friday Gallery Crawl will be the reopening. |

Blank Page might best be described as a meeting of the minds, with the expressed purpose of providing an open forum for all media, performance included. It is a dream given a home; a fantasy being realized through the acts, ideas, and time of a motivated network of creative individuals; a gallery with the soul of a community center, providing a youth-friendly open forum for all static and dynamic arts that encourages experimentation and learning. Here the opportunity is given to get one's work up on the walls, get feed back, and come back again to see the possibilities of self-expression through the work of others. Blank Page is on a mission to create an open dialogue between artists who are established, those who are outsiders, and those who aren't sure where they stand. Currently Blank Page has in residence painters, writers, photographers, drawers, mixed media artists, musicians, and comedians. |

Call for entries for The Big Read at CityArts.
The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts, designed to restore reading to the center of American culture. The Big Read brings together partners across the country to encourage reading for pleasure and enlightenment. This year’s focus book is “Great Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe.”
CityArts is a proud partner of The Big Read Wichita and is currently looking for people who make hand-made art books to display for The Big Read show opening Final Friday, September 25. The books do not have to be for sale, but will need to remain on display for the entire length of the show, which closes October 31. Also the book(s) must have never been shown at CityArts.
Your book(s) will need to be delivered to CityArts at 334 N Mead by Monday, September 21. Please be sure your contact information and the information for the book (title, your name and price if it is for sale) are included. If you are interested in being involved or have further questions please contact Tabitha Bean at 316-462-2787 or at tbean@wichita.gov.
