Hello and happy 2008 to all of our wonderful Friends University Jazz fans! We have many wonderful jazz events at Friends this semester.

Friends University Jazz Ensemble
Thursday, July 10, 2008 starting at 7:00pm

Dear Jazz Friends I am sure all of you know by now, that the Friends University Jazz Ensemble I will be traveling to Italy and France July 12-22 to perform at 3 major international jazz festivals (Umbria Jazz in Italy and Jazz a Juan and The Nice Jazz Festival in France). The students have been working hard for the past year to raise funds for the trip, and they have done an excellent job.

You can support their efforts (and hopefully help put us over the top!) by attending a Bon Voyage Benefit Concert and Silent Auction on Thursday, July 10th. I have attached a flyer to this email, and if you have a place to post it, please help me by doing so. We need to fill Sebits Auditorium that night and send these students off to Europe in grand style!

The Silent Auction will begin at 7 PM and we have many very nice items already donated from local businesses. There are tickets for Music Theater of Wichita, Cabaret Old Town, the Orpheum Theater, many restaurants, gift baskets and gift certificates. We will also have the T-shirts for sale like the ones the band will wear in Europe, and the first copies of the new Soulstice CD Record Highs. If you would like to donate to our silent auction or know somebody who would, please let me know (Lisa Hittle - hittll@friends.edu) as we are still collecting items.

The concert will begin at 8 PM and will feature the Friends University Jazz Ensemble I will some special surprise guests! Tickets are only $10 and are available now by calling our box office at 295-5616. You can also purchase tickets at the door the night of the concert.

Please come out on Thursday, July 10thand support these wonderful and talented students and enjoy some great jazz! Bring some friends with you and please also forward this email to any of your friends who enjoy jazz. I hope to see you there!
