Artist Statement

Jodi Lightner, 2012
A Kansas native, Jodi Lightner completed her MFA degree at Wichita State University in 2010. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, including juried and invitational shows. Her work has been seen inAngle Gallery, Seattle, the AIR Gallery, New York City, and the Cocoon Gallery, Kansas City as well as otherlocations through out the United States. She has also participated in artist residencies focused on studiopractice at the International School of Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture in Montecastello diVibio, Italy, and the Vermont Student Center in Johnson, Vermont. In addition to a studio practice, Lightner complements her work with teaching at Wichita State University where she lectures in drawing and painting.

Artist Statement


“Mother and Cub”

"Less Than 2,000" makes a social statement about the extinction of the wild bear, the encroachment of humans onto their territory and animal cruelty. This is Emily Ritter's first formal gallery exhibit. She is a student at Wichita State University and currently teaches a bookmaking class at CityArts.

Biography


“Fires at Moonrise”, Oil on Canvas, 24”x30”
Louis Copt

Artist Louis Copt has been painting full-time since 1984. He received a BA in art from Emporia State University in 1971. He has also studied at the Art Student's League in New York City and has taken classes in drawing and painting at the University of Kansas. In 2011, Copt was named “Governor’s Artist” by the Kansas Arts Commission.
